The rough skeleton of our buildings consists mainly of concrete. As a concrete worker, you are the craftsman who ensures that that concrete is applied strongly, tightly and according to plan. Do you like physical work, teamwork and seeing immediate results at the end of a working day? Then this profession is worth exploring.

What exactly does a concrete worker do?

  • Preparing the workplace: placing or checking formwork, preparing reinforcement (steel) and preparing material for pouring.
  • Pouring and compacting concrete: operate pumps, vibrate and finish so that the concrete cures homogeneously and without air inclusions.
  • Finishing: surface finishes (sanding boards, smoothing, levelling) and checking slopes and dimensions.
  • Aftercare: protecting freshly poured concrete during curing and removing formwork when strength is reached.
  • Cooperation and safety: working closely with teammates, crane operators and superintendents, and working strictly in accordance with safety procedures.

Why choose a job as a concrete worker?

  • Directly visible results: concrete work is tangible and permanent - your work literally stays put.
  • Strong demand and job security: construction projects remain in full swing; skilled personnel in structural work and concrete continue to be sought.
  • Change in projects: from housing and offices to infrastructure projects - you work on different sites and with various techniques.
  • Growth opportunities: with experience or further training, you can progress to foreman, concrete operator or other specialist roles. TRIXXO supports lifelong learning and career growth.

Do you have the right qualities?

  • Physically resilient: lifting, bending and working in changing weather conditions are part of the job.
  • Precise and practical: correct measurements and workmanship are crucial.
  • Team player and communicative: coordination with colleagues makes all the difference.
  • Safety-conscious: strict adherence to procedures and PPE is essential.
  • Basic technical understanding: understanding drawings, concrete mixes and curing processes is a plus.

Checklist: is this for you?

  • Do you like working outdoors and practically?
  • Do you like tangible results and teamwork?
  • Are you physically fit and want to learn by doing?
If you answer "yes" to most questions, then a role as a concrete worker is a strong match.
