What exactly does an order picker do?

The core task of an order picker is to pick products from the warehouse based on an order list, or an 'order pick list'. This sounds simple, but it is an organised and streamlined process. Depending on the company and industry, you may come across different methods:

• Manual picking:This involves navigating through the warehouse with a trolley and picking items by hand.
• Voice picking: You receive instructions through a headset. This frees up your hands and increases efficiency.
• Pick-to-light: Screens indicate how many items to pick and where to find them.
• With a forklift or reach truck: For larger or heavier orders, you use a forklift or reach truck. A valid certificate is often required for this.
