As an interim worker, do you also receive vacation and vacation pay? Yes of course, everyone is entitled to vacation and vacation pay. You are then also entitled to single vacation pay and double vacation pay just like a permanent employee.

What does this mean?

Regular vacation pay is the standard wage paid out. Double vacation pay is an additional compensation on top of the regular wage. The timing of when you receive your vacation pay varies depending on whether you're a permanent employee or on a temporary contract. There’s also a difference between blue-collar workers and white-collar employees.

When will I receive my vacation pay?

  • White-collar employees: As a white-collar employee, you receive both single and double vacation pay weekly along with your regular salary. The amount is based on the number of hours worked. You will therefore receive your vacation pay in small installments each week through your temporary employment agency. It's advised not to spend it all! Blue-collar workers:
  • As a blue-collar worker, you receive your double vacation pay once a year, just like a permanent employee. This is for the year following the year in which the days were worked. This typically happens between May 2nd and June 30th. You will receive this from the RJV.

How many paid vacation days do I have?

This varies for everyone, as the number of paid vacation days you are entitled to depends on the number of days you worked the previous year. The more you worked last year, the more paid vacation days you’ll have!
